A pruning saw is a handsaw that is specifically designed for performing pruning tasks. It can even cut the thick branches of trees, which is out of the scope of the pruning shears. High branches of trees can also be conveniently pruned through the pruning saw, which are otherwise hard to cut from any other tool.

Pruning saws are fabricated from steel and have a coated finish. The blade of this gardening tool is thin and have big and sharp teeth to bite into the thick branches of trees. The blade of this tool is usually of two types, i.e., straight and curved, each is appropriate for different applications. The handle is usually curved to provide a non-slip and easy grip, even during prolonged usage.

As pruning saws are to be used to cut long and unwanted branches of trees, etc., they need to be used with a ladder to reach a high branch. However, some modern pruning saws are equipped with telescopic handles, so that there is no need for a ladder to reach the branch. Electric pruning saws are also available, which perform the sawing action on their own, thus eliminate the need for manual effort.
